Bill Hart
the WCAU-TV announce booth
circa 1969

This picture was taken at Channel 10. In the forefront, you can see WCAU-TV personality Bill Hart in the announce booth. Through the window, Bill has visual contact with both production control (operator in the orange jacket) and central control (operators in the distance).

The announce booth was 10x19 feet and had one color television camera in it. At that time, it was used for news events, bulletins and updates. The camera was usually left in this studio so that it could be used within a moment's notice.

The announcer's console contained two switchers which provided program cue, a director's cue and intercom with the air studio, if in use.
