March of Dimes Air Awards

Born and raised in South Philly (where he still lives), Broadcast Pioneers member Bob Charger has worked at big stations and small ones. The super stations included WIP, WIBG and WFIL, Famous 56. In fact, he was the last DJ ever to use the market line “Famous 56” on the air at WFIL (that was in 1987).
He’s also worked at WCAM (during the seventies), WSSJ (during the eighties), WVLT (during the nineties), WAMS in Wilmington and WSNJ.
Bob Charger went to WOGL doing weekends and moved full-time to the 7 pm to 12 midnight shift in 2004. The next year, he was honored by the March of Dimes' AIR (Archievement in Radio) Awards as Philadelphia’s best nighttime air personality. Besides his evening duties, Bob can be heard Sunday mornings with his “Brunch with the Beatles” radio program.
What kind of person is Bob? Well, awhile ago his good friend Kevin Fennessy was hospitalized in New York City. Bob drove to the “Big Apple” and brought along Kevin’s 13 year-old son. That’s a friend.
