Broadcast Pioneers member Stan Hochman has been covering sports for the Philadelphia Daily News for 53 years, starting June 9, 1959 as a baseball writer.

In 1963, he “crossed over” to radio, doing morning sports reports on WCAU radio. He later became part of the round-table program, “Evening Edition.” He did color on Eagles broadcasts with Charlie Swift and Charlie Gauer.

He did the weekend sports on Channel 6 for two years, working with John Roberts and Paul Norton. He was host of a show called “On Camera” in which he interviewed guests not connected with sports.

He was color analyst on Sixers games for PRISM for one season and was a regular on the Shark Attack, a two hour sports talk show on WPHT. Stan hosted a 4-hour talk show on WIP, working with Ray Didinger, for almost two years. Hochman is a regular panelist on “Daily News Live” a one-hour sports talk show on Comcast Sports Net.

He continues to write a column twice a month in SportsWeek. Stan Hochman has been married to Gloria Hochman for 52 years. Gloria is director of communications for the National Adoption Center and an outstanding medical writer. Their daughter, Anndee, is a teacher and writer. Anndee’s partner, Elissa Goldberg, is a social worker. Their daughter, Sasha, is 11. Her ambition is to become the drama critic for the New York Times. On Friday evening, November 16, 2012, Stan Hochman was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame.
