It is hard to imagine that there are too many people on the Philadelphia music scene that are on a par with Larry Magid. He has been making major contributions since 1968.

The very first time Larry was on Philly radio was when he was still a teenager and was invited to be on the air at WDAS. Later he was one of the first disc jockeys on the progressive WDAS-FM (using the air name, Larry Magic).

When Larry left the air to devote his full energy to running one of the first rock clubs in Philadelphia known as the Electric Factory, even he didn’t imagine that he would go on to become one of the most successful concert promoters in the world. This was In large part because of Larry’s unique ability to know what would work musically, Electric Factory Concerts have put on almost 17,000 concerts in his career including major international events like The Atlantic City Pop Festival, Live Ad and Live 8. His work has also led him to earn two Tony Awards.

Magid’s book, My Soul’s Been Psychedelicized: Electric Factory: Four Decades in Posters and Photographs (Temple University Press) was published in 2011. It is also filled with some great inside stories of the inner workings behinds the scenes over the years.
