On Wednesday, April 18th, 2007, our main speaker was the lovely and the ever beautiful Dawn Stensland, the 10 pm news anchor for Channel 29, WTXF, Fox in Philadelphia. She's a member of the Broadcast Pioneers. Dawn was introduced by husband Larry Mendte, a member of the Broadcast Pioneers and an inductee into our "Hall of Fame" in November 2006.

Also, another husband and wife team were there. They worked together at WIP when John Facenda was there. They're Jo and Bill Campbell. They told us about WIP, Ben Gimbel and John Facenda. Bill also worked with John Facenda at WCAU-TV, Channel 10.

Listen to what Bill & Jo Campbell said

It all took place on Wednesday, April 18th at the beautiful and historic Bala Golf Club, in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia.

COMPLETE AUDIO OF DAWN & LARRY

Listen to what they said

This is rolling audio. That is, it is in two segments. The second segment will start playing automatically after the first one is finished. On broadband, this is almost seamless. For dial-up users, it may take 10 to 20 seconds to load each segment.

Here's a video clip of what Dawn said!

Here's six more photos!

Plus on that day, we awarded eight $1,000.00 scholarships to area college students; one who is the granddaughter of former Channel 6 air personality Tom Moorehead, our 8th president. Dawn and Larry helped us award the checks.

Our scholarship winners were (in alphabetical order):

Kyle Hall, Temple University
Catherine Hawley, Temple University
Kevin Hoffman, Drexel University
Kelly Moorehead, Cabrini College
Matthew Neder, LaSalle University
Laura Rachfalski, Drexel University
Michael Rodden, LaSalle University
Ashley Smith, Rowan University
