On Wednesday, December 17, 2003, the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia had its Christmas luncheon. Our entertainment for the day was Christmas songs sung by CBS 3, KYW-TV's Ukee Washington. Part way through the program, Ukee invited former Sports Director of WPVI and WCAU-TV, Joe Pellegrino to join him in a duet of "Silent Night." Then member Diego Castellanos, host of Puerto Rican Panorama on Channel 6 did a rendition of "Feliz Navidad." Both Pellegrino and Castellanos are members of the Broadcast Pioneers.

What a great afternoon this was. As we look back at this luncheon, about a decade ago, it becomes even more apparent what a great event this was. As we watched this video tape in 2012, we remember many of our members who have since passed on. Seen in this recording are members Herb Clarke, Austin Culmer, Bob Dome, Ed Sciaky, Bill Webber and others who have gone to the great broadcasting studio in the sky. What a marvelous recording!

Ukee sang some songs and then a duet with Broadcast Pioneers member Joe Pellegrino. Then, Diego Castellanos sang. He said, "If I sang on my show, they would yank it off the air." We have put together a scoped version of the event. When we initially put this video up in 2003, it was 6 and a half minutes long. We re-did the video in July of 2012. We added an additional 2 and a quarter minutes. Of course, the quality is much better than before. In our opinion, the Real Video version is of higher quality.
