Art Wolfe

Clare R. Wolfe was known to most people as "Art" Wolfe, using his dad's first name. Art was born on Thursday, November 14, 1929 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Wolfe was a graduate of Royersford High School and Temple University.

His love of sports led him into the broadcasting industry. In his early years, he worked at stations in Pottsville, Pennsylvania; Midland, Michigan; Binghamton, New York and Richmond, Virginia. He returned to Philadelphia to become Sports Director at WPEN.

Then he went to KYW Newsradio, covering the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, 76ers and other sporting activities. He was a sports anchor and reporter at the station.

He was the PA Announcer at Veterans Stadium and also Connie Mack Stadium. In fact, he was working opening day for both stadiums. For many years, he was the Sports Editor for the Montgomery Publishing Company in Ft. Washington, Pennsylvania.

Art Wolfe passed away at his Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania home on Monday, May 12, 2008. He was married to his wife Marjorie for 44 years,. The couple had two children, David and Lauren.
